Love is like Oxygen

I was recently handed an excerpt from a book to read. I couldn’t find the book to be sure which book it is from. The title appears to be: Living in the Present. The following quote is from Chapter 29, “Practicing the Presence of People.”

I was struck by the following statement:
“Love is like oxygen. The breath of it I had just a moment ago will do me no good if I do not take another breath soon. To stay alive I must keep breathing.”

It helps to understand why as people we crave affirmation and expressions of love, but I think the lesson for me is that those around me need the same.
